What is a "Giclee" print?
(pronounced gee-clay)

Giclee is French for "sprayed paint" or "nozzel" and was created to describe a new style of fine art printing that uses large format ink-jet printers, archival quality pigment based inks and fine art media. Giclee prints are reproductions of original oil or acrylic paintings, watercolors, pastels, sketches, etc. Giclee prints are designed to provide a high degree of color accuracy, longevity, fade resistance, and repeatablility in printing. The inks used in these types of printing systems can be calibrated for a variety of media and print runs as small as a single print are possible.

Over time, giclee reproductions of original works of art generate more income, to the artist, than can be made by selling the original work of art.
